HIBAPRESS – Moulay Yacoub
In an incident that sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms, security services in the Moulay Yacoub province were able to arrest a young man who appeared in a controversial video, where he brandished a sharp object and directed direct threats towards the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
The young man, who hails from the Hamria region, concealed his identity by wearing a mask while filming the video and publishing it on his personal Facebook account, which sparked a wave of condemnation and warnings of clear incitement to violence against a government official.
Preliminary data indicate that the young man exploited the protests witnessed by the "Gen Z" group, especially those related to the health sector, with the aim of increasing interaction on his personal account, using provocative rhetoric that reflects the exploitation of social situations to achieve individual gains.
This incident also coincided with a worrying wave of publishing personal information about a number of ministers, including Aziz Akhannouch, via the "Discord" platform belonging to the "Hine Zaid 212" group, where their residential addresses and other sensitive information were circulated, which observers considered a direct threat to the personal security of officials and an attempt to incite public opinion against them.
The competent authorities have begun intensive investigations to uncover all the circumstances of this case, emphasizing the need to adopt a strict approach in confronting all forms of incitement to violence or targeting public figures through the digital space, in order to preserve the stability of national security and the safety of officials.
The incident is the second of its kind this year after the arrest of a young man from Agadir, who wrote a post carrying a direct threat to Akhannouch through the blue space, where he wrote his post in both Arabic and Amazigh languages.
