HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ould Ali
In a scene that has become familiar and upsetting, the residents of Sidi Mansour in Al Hoceima are experiencing the accumulation of garbage and household waste in various alleys and streets, amidst the complete absence of interventions by the local authorities and the municipal council, despite the repeated complaints and appeals made by citizens for weeks.
Several points in the neighborhood have turned into random dumps for waste, in light of the weak cleaning services and the absence of field monitoring, which has led to the spread of bad odors, insects, and stray dogs, especially with the rise in temperatures, which has made the daily lives of the residents like a continuous suffering. A number of citizens said in identical statements that they "were tired of the repeated promises" and that "the environmental situation has become unbearable," demanding an urgent and responsible move to save the neighborhood from the deterioration it is experiencing. They confirmed that the problem is not limited to the accumulation of garbage only, but also includes weak infrastructure and the absence of daily follow-up by the competent authorities. Local affairs observers believe that what is happening in Sidi Mansour reflects the absence of a clear vision for managing the sanitation sector at the municipal level, stressing that maintaining the cleanliness of neighborhoods is a collective responsibility that requires effective coordination between the municipal council, the authorized company, and the local authorities.
