On Saturday, October 25th, national security elements at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 24-year-old French citizen of Algerian origin, based on an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities.
The screening of the detainee in the database of the International Criminal Police Organization "Interpol" revealed that he was the subject of a red notice issued by the National Central Bureau in Paris, on suspicion of his involvement in a criminal network specializing in the illegal possession of explosive materials. The suspect has been placed under custody pending the completion of his extradition procedures, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, while the National Central Bureau "Interpol Rabat" of the General Directorate of National Security was tasked with informing its French counterpart of the arrest operation. This measure comes within the framework of international security cooperation undertaken by the Moroccan authorities, and in the context of ongoing efforts to pursue those wanted in cases of transnational organized crime.
