Parliamentarian Ahmad Touizi, the head of the Authenticity and Modernity Party in the House of Representatives, provided clarification to the public regarding recent statements attributed to him concerning what was called "grinding paper," confirming that the phrase was intended metaphorically, not literally, and that it was taken out of its true context.
Touizi explained, in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from Rabat, that the phrase "grinding paper" is used in the Moroccan dialect to mean manipulating documents or invoices submitted to obtain public support, and it has absolutely nothing to do with mixing or blending unsuitable materials with flour or other food products. He pointed out that talking about "grinding paper" in its literal sense is economically illogical because the value of paper far exceeds the price of flour, making this claim unreasonable and unbelievable. Touizi expressed his regret for the distortion of his statements and their exploitation by some parties seeking to create controversy and "buzz," stressing that the aim of his intervention in parliament was to draw attention to the monitoring of the quality of subsidized flour, the quantities of production declared, and the mechanisms for disbursing public support. These are issues that concern the Moroccan citizen and require a serious and responsible discussion. The head of the Authenticity and Modernity Party stressed his continued defense of reforming the public support system and gradually lifting support for butane gas and subsidized flour, while directing support directly to poor and deserving families, in a way that guarantees social justice, preserves the dignity of citizens, and balances public finances.
