In a short interview on the sidelines of the screening of her new film "Banat El Pasha" during the Cairo International Film Festival, the artist Zeina opened her heart to the media to clarify the reason for her absence from the festival for the past nine years.
Zeina confirmed that her absence was not due to a decline in her status, but rather to the lack of a work of art offered to her: "I don't have the courage to go to a festival and I don't have a film to be shown in it… Ilham Shaheen, Laila Eloui and Yousra, when they go, they go with their history, but why should I go?" The Egyptian artist stressed that her words were not an attack on any colleague, but just honesty towards herself: "I am not criticizing or attacking anyone… but I am afraid, and I don't feel that I should be present and I don't have enough works to my credit." Despite medical warnings, Zeina revealed that she had resumed filming her new series "Ward and Chocolate", stressing that her love for work and acting does not allow her to stay away from the screen: "I love work very much… and whenever I get a job, I will do it, I don't like to rest." She pointed out that her basic criterion in choosing works is not quantity, but the quality of the role and the success of the work, explaining that this approach made her keen to be present artistically only when she has a credit that proves her presence and creativity.
