The High Commission for Planning stated that the reference index for manufacturing industries, excluding oil refining, recorded an increase of 2.2 percent during the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same period last year.
The Commission explained, in an information note on the reference index for industrial, energy and mineral production, that this development is mainly due to the increase in production in several branches, particularly "food industries" by 11.3 percent, "manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products" by 12.2 percent, "chemical industry" by 4.3 percent, "automotive industry" by 7.4 percent, and "manufacture of rubber and plastic products" by 16.2 percent, in addition to "manufacture of other means of transport" by 19.9 percent. In contrast, the reference index for "tobacco products industry" recorded a decrease of 28.4 percent, while "pharmaceutical industry", "manufacture of metal products except machinery and equipment" and "mining" decreased by 17.3 percent, 6.6 percent and 8 percent, respectively. On the other hand, the reference index for extractive industries increased by 7.4 percent, as a result of the increase recorded in "other extractive industries" by 7.5 percent, and the reference index for "ferrous metals" by 3.2 percent. The reference index for electricity production also recorded an increase of 6.4 percent.
