HIBAPRESS – Essaouira
The Royal Gendarmerie elements of the Essaouira brigade have stopped the activity of a secret unit specialized in the production of traditional liquors, at the level of the commune of Moulay Bouzerktoun.
According to a gendarmerie source, the field operation carried out in the Douaghcha neighborhood resulted in the seizure of about 2.5 tons of the liquor "Aqua Vitae" that was prepared and ready for promotion, in addition to the seizure of advanced equipment and logistical means that were used in the distillation and manufacturing operations inside an unlicensed workshop. The same source added that the intervention of the gendarmerie elements was not limited to dismantling the liquor factory, but also enabled the seizure of significant quantities of cannabis resin, in addition to about 120 kilograms of "kif" spikes and smuggled tobacco leaves known as "Taba". A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, with the aim of identifying the identities of all potential people involved in this criminal activity and arresting them, while the seized quantities of liquor were destroyed according to the adopted legal procedures.
