Security services in Casablanca arrested an Algerian fan who appeared in a video circulating on social media, where he was filmed with a number of Algerian fans tearing up banknotes of the national currency on the sidelines of the Algerian national team's match against Nigeria in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations at the Grand Stadium of Marrakech.
Sources said that the fan (K.B), a British citizen, confessed to the acts attributed to him, and was immediately handed over to the security services in Marrakech, where he was placed under custody by instructions of the Public Prosecution at the Marrakech Court of Appeal. The arrest of the fan came in the context of the immediate reaction of the security services to the video content that documented the incident, confirming the taking of all legal measures to ensure the protection of the national currency and the punishment of offenders.
