Field mobilization continues in the Ouled Hssine commune, which is part of Sidi Kacem province, today, Sunday, by local and regional authorities, supported by civil protection teams and various services, within the framework of proactive and urgent measures to address the rising water level of the Sebou River and protect the population and property.
These field interventions are characterized by the use of significant logistical mechanisms and bulldozers working at an intensive pace to strengthen earthen dams and protective barriers along the banks of the valley, especially at points threatened by rising water levels, with the aim of preventing water from flowing towards agricultural lands and residential areas adjacent to the bank. These proactive interventions have been met with the approval of the local population, as Hicham Aouam, a community activist in the Ouled Hssine commune, confirmed that the operations launched by the regional and local authorities have effectively contributed to protecting the region, noting that these operations included the protection of several douars, including the "El Hassnaoui," "El Kliaa," and "El Dakhla" douars. The speaker explained in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency that the current approach differs radically from what the region witnessed during the 2010 floods, where there was a transition from relying on traditional means in harsh climatic conditions to a tight logistical mobilization. On his part, Idriss Benzina, also a community activist in the region, praised the great efforts made by the local authorities and their continuous vigilance in monitoring the situation on the ground. He also praised the policy of proximity pursued by the local authorities, through their constant and continuous presence in the field alongside citizens to provide the necessary support and accompaniment in this exceptional circumstance. These efforts fall within the context of a large-scale emergency plan in Sidi Kacem province, which aims to secure sensitive points and avoid the repercussions of the recent weather disturbances on the rural population and infrastructure.
