HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
A number of social media users have been circulating posts and video clips in recent days criticizing the way High-Level Urban Transport buses (BHNS) operate, due to some of them not adhering to their dedicated lanes. This raises questions about the usefulness of these lanes, which were created and a budget of millions of dirhams was spent on them, specifically to facilitate the movement of this type of mass transit.
According to what is being circulated on social media pages, some buses leave their dedicated lanes to travel in the middle of normal traffic, which leads to competing with private cars and creates a kind of confusion in traffic flow, especially during peak hours.
Followers believe that respecting these lanes by the buses will contribute to achieving the main goal of the project, which is to speed up movement within the city and reduce pressure on the roads.
Pending official clarifications from the concerned authorities, a number of citizens are demanding the need to strengthen monitoring and ensure compliance with the use of dedicated lanes for BHNS buses, so that this infrastructure can play its role in improving urban transport services and reducing congestion within the city.
