HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The Istiqlal Party in the city of Berrechid is witnessing a state of internal division with the approach of the upcoming legislative elections, against the backdrop of an intense struggle over endorsement, after the end of what has become known as the "Al-Qadiri" stage, which marked the party scene in the region for years and was a direct cause of the party's weakening locally, although the Berrechid district was classified as one of the historical strongholds of the Al-Mizan party.
According to circulating data, three different currents have emerged within the party, each seeking to push its candidate to obtain endorsement and enter the upcoming elections, in a context that reflects the intensity of internal competition and an attempt to regain the political position within the Berrechid district.
The first current is a trend that supports the nomination of Khalid Al-Ibrahimi, the son of the region, who relies on his local influence, especially in the Sidi Al-Makki area, while a second current pushes towards the endorsement of Captain Muhammad Muftah, considering him a name with a prominent legal and professional presence.
As for the third current, it calls for granting endorsement to one of the businessmen who recently joined the party, relying on his financial capacity and capabilities, which he believes may enhance the party's chances of winning a parliamentary seat during the upcoming elections.
This multiplicity of nominations raises questions about the party's ability to manage its internal disputes and unite its ranks before the upcoming elections, especially in light of the bet on restoring its political radiance locally.
