The Mauritanian government expects the country's gas exports to exceed 3 million tons this year, which opens the door to significant financial returns expected to strengthen public resources and support the national budget.
According to official estimates, the net revenues that Mauritania will earn from gas exports are expected to range between 193.88 million US dollars and 290.81 million US dollars during the current year, according to developments in global prices and levels of production and export. These figures, if realized, reflect an advanced step in the path of investing in natural resources, especially gas, as it is one of the strategic bets to enhance economic growth and reduce the financial deficit, in addition to supporting development plans in the medium term. Observers believe that Mauritania's entry into the stage of regular returns from gas exports may constitute a remarkable economic transformation, provided that governance continues to improve and that these resources are directed towards sustainable development projects.
