The health scene in the Oriental region witnessed a wide controversy regarding the management of the Regional Oncology Center in Oujda, where the parliamentary deputy Omar Aanan, from the Socialist team, addressed a written question to the Minister of Health and Social Protection about "management imbalances" at the Oncology Center in Oujda; This is what prompted the administration of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center to break its silence through a statement to the public to refute what was promoted.
The parliamentary correspondence had painted a grim picture of the situation inside the center, talking about "seizure" of medicines and painkillers in the hospital pharmacy until their expiration and depriving patients of them, in addition to the "arbitrary" suspension of a doctor specializing in pain treatment. The deputy also pointed to the deterioration of the conditions of receiving patients and the palliative care unit, noting the existence of restrictions on charitable and associative initiatives supporting cancer patients.
In contrast, the administration of the University Hospital Center in Oujda confirmed, in its explanatory statement, that the comfort of patients and the relief of their pain are at the "heart of its concerns," clarifying the following points:
Pain treatment: The center confirmed the provision of daily medical consultations supervised by a group of professors and doctors in resuscitation and anesthesia, stressing that every patient with a prescription has the full right to obtain the available medicines "with full transparency and without discrimination."
Management of donations: The administration explained that the process of receiving donations is organized according to precise legal controls to ensure the safety of the beneficiaries, as all data are recorded to ensure fairness in distribution. The statement revealed that the value of donations during the current year exceeded 350,000 dirhams, which reflects the donors' confidence in the institution.
