HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
The city of Agadir recorded a significant increase in the volume of waste during Eid al-Adha, after the total quantity collected reached 1074 tons, according to updated data issued by communal sources, after a much lower initial figure was circulated at the beginning of the operations.
This figure reflects the exceptional pressure faced by the sanitation system during this occasion, where the waste from sacrifices and household waste doubles in a short period of time, which requires intensive mobilization of human resources and logistical means to ensure the continuity of services and avoid the accumulation of garbage within the neighborhoods. In return for this field effort, the situation again raises the problem of the environmental behavior of citizens, and the importance of adhering to the rules of proper waste disposal, in addition to the need for more effective proactive plans that include strengthening containers, organizing collection operations, and intensifying awareness campaigns, to ensure better management of this sensitive stage in the future.
