HIBAPRESS
The police elements in the Tangier Med port security district, in coordination with customs services, managed on Sunday morning, October 11th, to thwart an international drug smuggling attempt and seize a total of three tons and 565 kilograms of hashish.
A joint border surveillance operation, to which a Moroccan-registered international freight trailer truck was subjected, enabled the seizure of drug shipments hidden inside boxes loaded with agricultural products, which had been prepared and packaged to facilitate the international drug smuggling operation.
The driver of the shipment, a 35-year-old Moroccan citizen, has undergone judicial investigation procedures, which are being carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, to uncover all national and international ramifications and connections of this operation.
This case falls within the context of the continuous efforts made by various security services at national border crossings to combat international drug and psychotropic substance smuggling networks.
