Ahmed Zerrouti – HIBAPRESS
The Moroccan Association for Cultural Research and Exchange has called on the upcoming government to review its approach to the officialization of the Amazigh language, and to transition from scattered sectoral programs to an integrated government policy, based on clear objectives, defined timelines, financial resources, and mechanisms for monitoring and accountability.
This came in a congratulatory message sent by the association to Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, on the occasion of her appointment as Head of Government, as stated in the correspondence. The association also congratulated her on her Authenticity and Modernity Party topping the legislative election results of September 23, 2026.
The association affirmed that the Amazigh language, as an official language of the state and a fundamental pillar of Moroccan identity, deserves a clear position within the government program for the period 2026-2031, pointing to the continued stumbling and delay in the implementation of several provisions of Organic Law No. 26.16, despite years having passed since its issuance.
Despite acknowledging the initiatives that have been achieved in recent years, the association considered the results to be still below the desired transformation level, calling for the adoption of a comprehensive government vision that ensures the effective presence of the Amazigh language in education and various areas of public life.
The association also placed its experience, spanning since 1967, at the disposal of the upcoming government, expressing its readiness to contribute practical proposals and measures that would accelerate the officialization of the Amazigh language and consolidate constitutional gains.
