Competent authorities in the city of Beni Bouayach, in the province of Al Hoceima, managed to stop a truck driver from the city of Imzouren, at the level of the Bougarmene neighborhood, on suspicion of his involvement in transporting a large quantity of illegal plastic bags.
According to the available data, the operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 12 tons of plastic bags suspected of violating current legal and regulatory provisions, before the seized items were subjected to the applicable procedures.
The driver was arrested and taken to the competent authorities, where he is expected to undergo the necessary legal procedures under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, in order to determine the circumstances and details of this operation, and to reveal the source and destination of this quantity of seized bags.
This operation comes in the context of efforts to combat the circulation of illegal plastic bags, due to the environmental and health damage they cause, as well as their negative impact on the cleanliness of cities and the natural environment.
The competent authorities are expected to continue their investigations to uncover any other potential parties involved in this case and to determine responsibilities according to the outcome of the investigations.
