The French Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the detention of 1314 people during protests that took place in various regions of the country over the weekend, while 53 police officers were injured during confrontations that erupted on the sidelines of the demonstrations.
These detentions came following acts of violence witnessed in major French cities, coinciding with large protests organized on Saturday to denounce the rising cost of living, amid the ongoing state of unrest that the country has been experiencing for the second consecutive week.
These developments reflect the escalating tension accompanying social protests in France, amidst confrontations between protesters and police forces, which resulted in a large number of detentions and injuries among the security forces.
