On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Al Hoceima province witnessed an urgent field intervention that enabled the rescue of a woman in a critical health condition after heavy snowfall prevented her transport to the hospital in a timely manner.
According to available data, the woman resided in the Douar of Wadi Mahkim, which is part of the Beni بشير commune. She was suffering from acute breathing difficulties while the road connecting the Douar and the regional road RR 413 was cut off due to snow accumulation, which made it difficult for ambulances to access the area. Upon receiving notification from the local authorities at approximately 12:15 PM, an emergency intervention plan was activated, involving the local authority, the Royal Gendarmerie, the equipment services, civil protection, and auxiliary forces, within the framework of a well-coordinated effort to ensure a rapid and effective response. The equipment services initiated operations to open the regional road and the unclassified path leading to the Douar, while the option of aerial evacuation was ruled out due to the adverse weather conditions, relying on ground intervention. After continuous field efforts lasting for hours, the civil protection elements were able to transport the woman to the regional road RR 413, where she was transferred via an ambulance belonging to the commune to the local hospital in the city of Tarjeest to receive necessary treatment under the supervision of the medical staff. This intervention embodies the extent of field mobilization and the speed of coordination between the various relevant services, especially in mountainous areas, and also reflects the effectiveness of proactive measures taken to address health emergencies in light of harsh climatic fluctuations.
