In a judicial ruling that carries significant implications for his pending cases, the Beirut Criminal Court acquitted Lebanese singer Fadel Shaker of the charge of attempting to kill Sheikh Hilal Hammoud, thus putting an end to years of judicial controversy surrounding the Saida events dating back to 2013.
The court based its reasoning on the absence of conclusive legal evidence and the collapse of the pillars of the accusation in the absence of any confessions against him by those arrested in the same case, headed by Sheikh Ahmed Al-Assir. Legal "implications" and the plaintiff's earlier withdrawal of his lawsuit, coinciding with the conflicting statements, had a significant impact on tipping the scales of justice in favor of Shaker and enshrining the principle of innocence for lack of sufficient evidence. This criminal turning point is considered a prelude to a decisive stage before the military judiciary, where the legal team is awaiting the pleading session before Brigadier General Wassim Fayad at the end of May, a session that may undergo a slight change due to its coinciding with the Arafat stand. The defense relies on the effect of this acquittal on the "Abra events" file to be extended, as an additional indication that supports the position of the artist, who has always denied his field involvement in those confrontations, based on the absence of any solid documentation in the security records, whether sound or image, proving his presence at the scene of the operations, which intersected with the testimonies of the witnesses that successively denied the charges against him, thus opening a window of hope towards a comprehensive legal settlement.
