HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
In a well-executed humanitarian operation, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in the province of Ouarzazate were able to rescue two Italian tourists, aged 24 and 25, after they got lost amidst difficult mountain terrain between the regions of Telouet and Touama, which belong to the province of Al Haouz.
According to available data, the tourists were on an exploratory tour on bicycles before losing their way in a rough area, which forced them to continue walking for a distance of about 20 kilometers since the early hours of dawn, in harsh climatic conditions that increased the complexity of their situation.
Upon being notified of the incident, the Royal Gendarmerie services mobilized their various field units, under the supervision of the regional commander and the head of the squadron, along with the head of the Telouet center, where the tourists' location was accurately determined after extensive combing operations, which enabled them to be reached in record time.
The concerned individuals were transferred to the Sidi Hsain Ben Nasser Regional Hospital in the city of Ouarzazate, where they underwent the necessary medical examinations to ensure their health, which was described as stable.
This operation reflects the high readiness and tight coordination between the various Royal Gendarmerie services, especially in dealing with such cases that require rapid intervention and field experience in areas with complex terrain.
