HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Manfalouti
With the limited intervention of the civil protection elements in the face of the spread of fires and their extension to reach vast areas that threaten the Chaouia crops and the lives of the residents of the neighboring villages, voices of citizens, actors and interested parties have risen demanding the entry of the "Canadair aircraft" service, especially since the waters of Oum Errabie are close to the fires, which would facilitate its tasks.
One of the interactors on social media commented: "One Canadair aircraft and the Al-Massira Dam are not far away, capable of ending the terror and extinguishing the fire. We hope so. Things may get out of control. The Chaouia tribes and their villages are surrounded by fields and crops like a bracelet around the wrist, and the fires may spread to homes or houses." This, and many rural communities in the province of Settat are witnessing terrifying fires that have consumed the green and the dry, and have left huge material losses coinciding with the rise in temperatures, which makes it difficult for the interventions of the civil protection, which suffers from a weakness in logistics compared to the size of the fires and the vastness of their geography. Many farmers hope that the concerned authorities will intervene to bring firefighting services closer to the cultivated lands extending over vast areas, and that the "Canadair" aircraft will be used to stop the fires from spreading, knowing that the geography of the Settat region, the roughness of its paths, and the outbreak of fires in different areas are all reasons that would impede the interventions of the civil protection men, who arrive in the targeted areas after it is too late.
