The Ecuadorian National Police, on Thursday, September 10th, foiled the smuggling of 200 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which was hidden inside a container carrying a shipment of bananas intended for export, with its final destination being the city of Tangier.
The operation took place on the road connecting the Progreso region, affiliated with the city of Guayaquil, and the municipality of General Villamil Playas, where security services stopped a truck transporting the container before subjecting it to inspection.
The inspection resulted in the discovery of 200 packages of cocaine distributed inside eight bags, hidden amidst the banana shipment prepared for export via the Port of Posorja towards Africa.
The Ecuadorian police explained that the operation was carried out by the anti-drug investigation unit, based on information about the container and its route. The operation resulted in the arrest of one person and the seizure of the truck.
