Investigations related to drugs are ongoing in Turkey, as operations have expanded to include an additional number of well-known figures in the artistic and sports circles, alongside personalities from the business world and social media.
The Public Prosecution in Bakırköy, Istanbul, issued detention orders for 24 individuals in two separate investigations, while authorities announced the detention of 20 suspects as of the latest operational updates. Among the names mentioned in the case are actor Aras Bulut İynemli, the singer known as Sefo, actresses Melis Sezen and Nilperi Şahinkaya, and former football player Hasan Şaş, in addition to other known names.
The Public Prosecution stated in a statement that the first investigation involves suspicions related to the use of narcotic and stimulant substances, facilitating their use, or providing places for it, indicating that it has obtained evidence supporting reasonable suspicion against a number of individuals.
Concurrently with the detention operations, the homes of the suspects were searched, while the detainees underwent medical examinations and samples of their blood and hair were taken for analysis at the Forensic Medicine Institute, according to Ntv.
The second investigation concerns suspicions that include the use and provision of drugs, violation of private life privacy, blackmail, and mediation in prostitution. Reports indicated that a number of detainees were released after the completion of procedures, while others were referred to the Public Prosecution for necessary judicial decisions.
The latest operation comes as part of a series of investigations that began in Turkey in October 2025, and in recent months, dozens of well-known figures have been detained. In October, authorities launched operations targeting names from the artistic and musical circles, and investigations later expanded to include actors, singers, and social media influencers.
In January of this year, the case witnessed new waves of detentions, including well-known names such as Oktay Kaynarca, Emel Müftüoğlu, and Hasan Can Kaya, while subsequent operations included names from the sports sector and businessmen, including former officials of Turkish clubs and well-known economic figures.
Last April, operations continued and targeted new batches of artists, including singers, actors, and prominent figures in the entertainment industry, while investigations continued in the following months.
While the involvement of famous personalities in these investigations has generated widespread interest in Turkey, judicial procedures emphasize that detention or undergoing investigation does not mean guilt has been proven, as accusations remain under investigation until evidence is assessed and final decisions are made by the Public Prosecution and competent courts.
