The judicial center elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in Chichaoua managed to apprehend three individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activity related to drug trafficking, as part of a security operation based on field information and data concerning a shipment of drugs believed to be en route from the northern regions towards the Chichaoua area.
According to available data, the operation was carried out at the Chichaoua highway interchange, where gendarmerie elements managed to stop two individuals, both around forty years old, who were in a light vehicle intended for clandestine transport. They were suspected of being present at the location awaiting the arrival of the shipment, before it was handed over to a third individual suspected of drug trafficking activities in the Mezouzia area.
Continuing the field investigations and research, the judicial center elements managed to identify the identity and location of the third suspect, before he was apprehended and his home searched. According to available data, the operation resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of hashish, in addition to quantities of kif and tabac.
The apprehended individuals were placed under police custody, awaiting judicial investigation, which is being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, in order to deepen the investigation and uncover all the circumstances of the case, as well as to identify any other potential extensions of this criminal activity.
After completing the initial procedures, the suspects were presented before the public prosecution at the Court of First Instance in Imintanout, where it was decided, according to available data, to remand them in the local prison of Oudaya, pending the continuation of judicial proceedings and appropriate action against them in accordance with the law.
This operation comes in the context of security efforts undertaken in the Chichaoua province to combat drug trafficking networks and track the routes used for the transport and distribution of various types of narcotic substances.
