HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyaoui
The Al-Adraj region in Sefrou province witnessed, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong floods, as a result of a powerful rainstorm that hit the region in the past few hours.
The intensity of the rainfall, along with the region's mountainous terrain, led to a significant rise in the water level of Wadi Silou, which experienced strong flooding, amidst the flow of substantial amounts of water coming from the surrounding highlands and channels.
This situation caused the formation of strong torrents and the erosion of mud and stones, bringing back to the forefront the dangers associated with exceptional rainfall, especially in areas with rugged terrain and waterways that experience a rapid rise in water levels during storms.
The local population is closely monitoring the situation, while vigilance and caution remain necessary, especially for road users and citizens living near valleys and waterways.
These weather conditions, on the other hand, highlight the importance of strengthening preventive measures and proactive intervention in flood-prone areas, as well as ensuring the readiness of facilities, channels, and rainwater drainage routes, in anticipation of any further rise in water levels in the coming hours.
Authorities and relevant departments are still required to continue monitoring the field situation, especially in light of the ongoing weather fluctuations, and to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of residents and road users in the region.
