HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif El Baz
The Islamic cemetery "Oulad Draid" in the city of Beni Mellal is experiencing a disturbing situation, after parts of it have turned into a space for the accumulation of garbage and waste, in a scene that disrespects the sanctity of the cemetery and provokes the anger and resentment of many citizens, amid demands for urgent and firm intervention from the responsible authorities.
Local sources are circulating serious data regarding the exploitation of the cemetery's surroundings in suspicious practices, including allegations related to sorcery and the performance of mysterious acts that violate the sanctity of graves, in addition to claims about a person engaged in tomb construction activities consuming kif drugs in broad daylight. This data requires verification and scrutiny by the competent authorities, and the assignment of legal responsibilities if proven.
In light of this situation, demands are escalating for the intervention of the local authorities and the communal council, under the supervision of the governor of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, to remove the garbage, clean the cemetery, and open a serious investigation into the reported practices and transgressions, while tightening surveillance around its perimeter, to protect the sanctity of the deceased and preserve the dignity of families and visitors.
Citizens are also demanding an end to the manifestations of neglect and chaos, and the taking of practical and urgent measures to ensure the maintenance and security of the cemetery and prevent its exploitation for any illegal activities or practices that violate its sanctity.
Will the concerned authorities act decisively to put an end to this situation, investigate the sorcery allegations and transgressions, and restore the dignity of the Oulad Draid cemetery?
