2024 mobility of MAE staff: 15 new consuls general appointed

Fifteen new Consuls General have been appointed in several countries, or 25% of the total number of consular positions, following a call for applications launched as part of the staff mobility operation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad for the year 2024.

Nearly a third (33%) of appointed Consuls General are women, raising the overall rate of female Consuls General to 40% and thus confirming the growing trend of female representation among Consuls General (28% in 2022, 37% in 2023 and 40% in 2024).

In a promotion dynamic, 20% of the positions filled were allocated to Consuls General who had successfully completed their mission to occupy other consular positions.

Likewise and in a spirit of promoting consular referents, 20% of the newly appointed Consuls General are former Consuls General with experience of responsibility in the Central Service or at the level of Diplomatic Missions and Consular Posts.

Furthermore, and in a dynamic aimed at reconciling rejuvenation and confirmed experience, 60% of the Consuls General concerned by this movement are appointed for the first time.

Among all new appointments, 67% have already completed a consular post and 33% come from other areas of diplomacy.
