HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Manfalouti
General Katani Street in the city of Settat is experiencing a catastrophic situation due to the spread of dangerous potholes that now threaten the lives, security, and safety of its users.
Potholes and stalled maintenance work have turned this road section into a hot topic of discussion by interested parties and followers, as well as by local affairs managers in the municipality of Settat, according to the head of the Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Environment, and Services Committee of the Settat municipality, "Mostafa Al-Firazi". In a phone call with HIBAPRESS, Al-Firazi stressed that the catastrophic situation that this street is experiencing is primarily due to the halt of excavation work by the concerned company, not to mention the absence of signage that should indicate that work is still ongoing. The speaker added that this road section has turned into a passage of free death due to the increase in traffic accidents, demanding that the responsible authorities close it to protect the blood of the innocent victims of traffic accidents. It is worth mentioning that the October session of the Municipal Council in the city of Settat turned into a station for self-flagellation and recognition that the city is experiencing a catastrophic situation in terms of the infrastructure of streets and alleys in neighborhoods such as Maymouna and other neighborhoods. This is the subject that dominated the work of this session, where the head of the Municipal Council, "Nadia Faddami", stated in a public session and in front of the cameras that she herself fell into one of the potholes and, had it not been for divine grace, the tragedy would have been greater, calling on the concerned company to respect the clauses of the specifications, especially in its section related to respecting the legal deadlines for the completion of excavation work.
