HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Manfalouti
The governor of Settat province, "Mohamed Ali Habouha," stressed that the period before and during the blessed month of Ramadan is characterized by a special economic circumstance marked by an increase in demand for the most consumed food products, as well as a change in the consumption pattern of citizens, and what often accompanies this is the recording of some price increases. He affirmed that achieving the desired goals requires local and security authorities, administrative and decentralized state interests, each from its position, to ensure the adoption of exceptional and well-defined measures and procedures, especially to face this period, by joining efforts and exerting more mobilization, vigilance, and coordination between the various stakeholders through monitoring and evaluating the market situation in terms of supply to ensure its good supply and price stability, and monitoring any imbalances in the distribution channels of the most consumed materials and addressing random speculation and the phenomenon of multiple intermediaries that may contribute significantly to rising prices.
This came on the sidelines of the meeting chaired by the governor of the province on Friday to consider the measures and actions to be taken on the occasion of the approach of the month of Ramadan. This meeting comes in implementation of the contents of the Ministry of Interior's circular No. 241 dated 12/22/2025, related to strengthening the measures and procedures to ensure good supply of markets and their monitoring and organization in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan, and within the framework of implementing government directives aimed at ensuring a normal supply of the national market by covering the needs of the consumer of essential and most consumed materials and goods, and strengthening and intensifying control operations and campaigns and organizing markets, whether at the level of price control or at the level of quality and quantity of these consumer materials. The governor of the province also stressed the need to intensify monitoring operations continuously by the joint regional committee and local committees for various places and points of sale in the province, with firmness and non-tolerance in taking the necessary measures against those who violate the legal controls in force in this regard, in order to ensure the health safety of products and essential goods intended for consumption, or those stored and intended for sale, and to ensure transparency of commercial relations and the proper application of legal provisions in order to reduce any illegitimate increase in prices, while ensuring the publication of these prices on goods and services and respecting the prices of subsidized materials, as well as respecting the conditions of competition and freedom of prices, highlighting that this comes to provide food security and preserve the health and safety of citizens and the purchasing power of the consumer during this holy month. It is worth mentioning that the meeting witnessed the presentation of a series of presentations on the state of supply, prices, and products from the regional representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and the National Professional Office for Cereals and Legumes, where representatives of these sectors indicated that the supply situation is very good with the availability of products in a very large quantity.
