The judicial police unit in the Arrahma security district in Casablanca opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution on Thursday, February 19th, to determine the criminal acts attributed to a 27-year-old motorcycle driver, who is suspected of driving in a prohibited lane, non-compliance and deliberate harm to a police officer while performing his duties.
The data of the investigation, as documented also by a video recording posted on social media, indicate that the suspect intentionally hit a police officer with the rank of police inspector, who was performing his job within the security arrangements that were ensuring the smooth flow of traffic at the entrance to the Arrahma area during rush hour before the iftar of the first day of Ramadan.
The completed investigations showed that the police officer was surprised by the suspect coming from the special path for "busway" vehicles, which is prohibited for motorcycles, where he asked him to stop, but he refused to comply and continued driving at high speed, where he collided with the police officer who tried to avoid him, causing him physical injuries.
The injured police officer was transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, while the suspect was kept under custody pending the investigation supervised by the competent Public Prosecution, in order to determine all the circumstances and ملابسات of this case.
