HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ouldali
A family of six in the village of Iarouen, affiliated with the Louata municipality in the Al Hoceima province, is experiencing difficult humanitarian conditions. Recent rainfall caused floods to inundate their home and sweep away a number of their possessions, in an incident that nearly turned into a greater tragedy.
According to the images and data received, the floods coming from the adjacent valley led to the death or loss of livestock and poultry, in addition to the destruction of the modest savings and possessions the family had. The family members managed to survive the danger in conditions they described as difficult.
The family consists of a married young man with four children, while his wife is pregnant. He found himself in a very difficult social and financial situation in a short period, after their home became uninhabitable. He and his family members were forced to take temporary shelter in a neighbor's garage, awaiting a solution to prevent them from becoming homeless.
The images highlight the extent of the damage to the humble mud-brick dwelling. Its walls were damaged, some cracked, and a part collapsed due to the force of the water, making it dangerous for the family members, especially the children, to stay inside.
With the ongoing repercussions of the rainfall and the approaching winter, the family's fears are increasing about their situation worsening, in the absence of a safe shelter to protect them from the cold and rain.
Given this difficult humanitarian situation, the family is sending out a distress call to the local authorities, elected councils, philanthropists, and benevolent individuals to intervene urgently, stand by them, and work to provide a decent and safe shelter, thereby preserving their dignity and providing the necessary protection for the children and the pregnant mother.
