A mixed provincial committee conducted an inspection tour on Monday evening in Jemaa el-Fna Square in Marrakech and its neighboring markets, as part of inspection rounds to strengthen oversight on the quality of food products offered.
The committee, composed of representatives from the economic and social department, health services, and local authorities in the Jemaa el-Fna urban area, identified several violations and a lack of food safety conditions within two dried fruit shops, leading to their immediate closure.
These actions come amid growing concern for the safety of food products, particularly with the proliferation of commercial activities that rely on displaying products of unknown origin, which, according to observers, necessitates tightening controls to verify the source of goods, their storage conditions, and marketing.
