Aziz Akhannouch, the Head of Government and a prominent leader in the National Rally of Independents (RNI), called on the party's activists in the Taroudant province to continue their work and not pay attention to what he described as disruptors, emphasizing that the "Authenticity and Modernity" party currently presides over half of the territorial communities in the province.
Speaking during a party communication meeting in the city of Oulad Teima on Thursday, Akhannouch stated that the current phase requires continued work and adherence to the path of "reasonableness." He added that those who are successful are the ones who are attacked, urging them to "move forward and let them strike."
In the context of discussing the government's record, Akhannouch recalled the circumstances under which, he said, they assumed responsibility. He reminded that their term began amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused damage to the tourism sector and led to the loss of many jobs due to lockdowns, followed by a global crisis related to the war in Ukraine, and the accompanying inflation and global price hikes, in addition to the repercussions of increased demand on supply chains.
He added that these constraints coincided with five consecutive years of drought, as well as the repercussions of the Al Haouz earthquake. He highlighted that the government faced these combined circumstances, and yet, they are attacked without their opponents taking into account the constraints of the situation.
Despite these constraints, Akhannouch added, the government undertook the implementation of its government program, especially regarding direct social support and the generalization of health coverage. He pointed out that 4 million families are currently benefiting from health coverage, while the state covers their dues to the National Social Security Fund.
The Head of Government explained that the generalization of health coverage has enabled beneficiaries to access treatment in both the public and private sectors, stating that citizens can now choose the sector in which they wish to receive treatment, which was not previously available to them.
