The construction of a major railway tunnel under the city of Rabat continues, as part of the project to extend the high-speed train line connecting Kenitra and Marrakesh, within the framework of projects related to the development of the railway network in the Kingdom.
The railway office revealed in a capsule that the tunnel extends for 3 kilometers and is being built with two tracks, to connect the Bou Regreg valley area with the Rabat Agdal station, making it one of the main structures on the new route for the high-speed line.
The project, which carries the slogan "Opening the Way for Transformation," is divided into three work fronts, according to the same source, including the Bou Regreg side, the central area, and the Rabat Agdal station side, with the aim of completing the various stages of the project in parallel.
The budget allocated for the tunnel's construction is approximately 1.5 billion dirhams, while the work falls within the National Railways Office's projects to expand and develop the infrastructure of the high-speed train.
