HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
Morocco witnessed a double tragedy in recent days, combining the collapse of two buildings in the Al-Massira district of Fez, which claimed the lives of 22 people and injured 16 others, and violent floods in the Safi region that left dozens dead, once again revealing the fragility of the old infrastructure and its threats to lives.
In the monthly question session addressed to the Head of Government regarding the general policy of small and very small enterprises, the Socialist Group expressed its deep concern about the recurrence of such disasters, demanding that the government take immediate action to assume its responsibilities. Deputies Abd al-Qadir al-Tahir and Said Enmeili stressed the need to enhance the monitoring of old buildings that are in danger of collapse, and to activate early warning mechanisms in the villages and hamlets adjacent to rivers and valleys, to protect residents from the dangers of floods and sudden collapses. The Socialist Group confirmed that addressing the fragility of old buildings and strengthening the prevention of natural disasters has become an urgent national priority to ensure the safety of citizens and preserve lives.
