HIBAPRESS – Muhammad Al-Harouali
The Clerk's Office of the Primary Court in the city of Tinghir announced an exceptional measure to reduce criminal fines for those sentenced, in implementation of a circular issued by the Minister of Justice with the aim of encouraging those concerned to settle their financial situation related to judicial rulings.
The announcement addressed to the public explained that this measure is based on a circular from the Minister of Justice dated March 5th, and the provisions of Article 1-634 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, where it was decided to enable those sentenced to benefit from a reduction of up to one-third of the amount of the fine imposed. The announcement indicated that benefiting from this reduction remains conditional on paying the minimum fine within 30 days from the date of the in-person judgment or from the date of notification of judicial decisions issued in absentia or as if in attendance. The same announcement confirmed that this reduction does not include some public debts related to specific judicial files, including confiscated funds (code 1003), compensation in favor of the general treasury or others (code 4000), fine refunds (code 5000), and court costs (code 1010), in addition to contributions to the Guarantee Fund (code 2000). According to the content of the announcement, this measure aims to encourage those sentenced to pay fines within the legal deadlines while reducing pressure on judicial collection procedures.
