HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The Public Prosecution at the El Jadida Court of First Instance decided on Thursday to place the streamer Elías Malki in the local prison in El Jadida, after the extension period he was subjected to while in custody ended, despite the withdrawal of one of the associations of transport and logistics professionals from the complaint they had previously filed against him.
Malki was arrested last Monday against the backdrop of complaints filed by a number of taxi unionists, accusing him of insults, defamation, and libel during a live broadcast. Despite the withdrawal of one of the associations, the prosecution is still ongoing against him, given the existence of other complaints against him in the same case. The Public Prosecution had decided, on Wednesday morning, to extend the custody period for an additional 24 hours, before making the decision today to refer him to the local prison in El Jadida pending the start of his trial. The first sessions of the trial of Elías Malki are expected to be held tomorrow, Friday, amid great anticipation from his case followers.
